Tasty treats from our garden
This week we were able to see the fruits of our labours, we harvested strawberries and broad beans from our garden. Our wildflower meadow is looking beautiful and it looks like our sunflowers are going to be very tall by September.
What a green fingered Year One class you are.
Fabulous Topic work
I thought you might like to see the display of the children’s super work from our plants topic. There was so much beautiful work that I had to make little boxes so everyone could see all of their great work. The children should feel really proud when they see their work in the hall.
Here is a…
Plant investigators
Over the last few weeks we have been caring for and observing our seeds germinating and growing. They all germinated at different times and grew different amounts even though we all planted the same seeds in the same way. We planted some of our bean seeds in plastic bags so we could watch the…
Super Science
Year 5 have taken part in a science investigation this week and we had some interesting results our science topic at the moment is forces. The investigation allowed the children focus on water resistance.
Investigations continue!
We investigated what a seed needed to grow well. We tested our ideas. We talked about needing special equipment to remove all the air and we decided to test it with no fresh air or less air. Science is tricky! There is lots to think about.
we all enjoyed the rewards when we got to nibble…
Investigating Plants
We have been exploring plants this week. Learning the names of the different parts of the plant. It was another opportunity for us to have another practise at using the iPads to present information digitally. We took photographs and created a labelled diagram. Then we carefully planted the flowers…
Plant Detectives
The children really enjoyed getting outside and exploring the grounds looking for plants with Mrs Bartlett. The children worked with a buddy and photographed plants and then made a picture collage on the iPad of all of the plants that they saw. We were surprised just how many different plants we…
Scientific Senses.
As part our Science work we have been exploring using our senses. It was great to focus on just one sense at a time and a good chance to practise setting up and recording the results of simple tests. We learnt which part of the body is important for each sense and have had lots of fun too. Super…
Spring is here
The children have been working hard getting their garden ready for spring. We hope soon to be planting flowers and vegetables, we made a great start by planting 2 apple trees, we hope that maybe next year we will have blossom on the tree to let us know it is spring.
Science
We have been researching the movement of the Sun, Moon and Earth as well as investigating how people first realised the earth was in fact round! The children have found this topic fascinating! ☀️
Marvellous moon buggies
We have decide to help Bob the man on the moon get all his jobs done by designing him a moon buggy. We have learnt lots about wheels and axels and making sure our moon buggy can move. We thought carefully about the shape, size and materials that we used. We had to learn about how to use tools…
Wonderful weather...
We are investigating the weather. We made a wind vane so that we can find out which direction the wind is coming from. We had to read the instructions very carefully and cut and join the pieces so that it could still move in the wind. Lots of terrific teamwork was needed as it was a bit…
